Good News...FINALLY!!
Today Colter, Natasha(Colters babysitter) and I headed down to Johns Hopkins for his allergist appt. It was an easy trip and Colter did very well....of course it helped to have Natasha sitting in the back with him to entertain him. We started the appt seeing a female fellow. She was very nice and took Colters history. The GI fellow had sent them a a detailed history as well which was helpful. Colter was all smiles and was lying on the exam table kicking the paper...He loves the paper at doctors office...its hysterical. They then did a skin allergy test for corn, milk, peanuts, soy, wheat, and eggs. He reacted to none of them. The head doctor (Dr. Wood) came in and explained it all. He said it is very good news that he did not react on the skin test and that it was not expected he would. He said he does not have FPIES(as the first allergist from geisinger said) that he has allergic proctocolitis. And that this is much better because he will most likely grow out of it by 1-2 years and most likely not have issues with other things. We are allowed to start solids with Colter...TONITE!! We will start with rice cereal and go to fruits and veggies. We just have to avoid milk and corn at this time. We will keep track of anything that bothers him and call them with any issues. Hopefully he will not have any other reactions. The Dr said if he does well with the first 10 foods he will probably do fine with the next 10 and the next 10. The plan will be to see Dr. Wood again in 6 months and at that point Colter will be one and we will slowly introduce milk and corn as he tolerates. I am very happy with this report and excited to give him some solids!!
